I wrote a post a couple of years ago that got a lot of comments and attention from the ‘directory owners’ community so I thought I would update it and post it on a Google Knol. Here is an excerpt:
I first wrote this list back in 2007 but it seems web directories are still a very relevant part of the Internet landscape and an important part of an aggressive search engine optimization strategy. If you have ever had a hankering to own your very own web directory then this article is for you. I would also love to hear of your personal ‘stages’ in the comment section.
Here is my experience building directories and watching others build them. A bit tongue-in-cheek but true to the heart.
