The Power of Sharing and Viral Posts

It is not always easy to understand, nor find a quantitative value for all the work that goes into posting on social media but here is a case study that helps explain the incredible value of a viral post by looking at the payoff on a single share out of many.

I made this post less than 48 hours ago, in that time it has reached over 400k people and almost 25,000 have engaged with the post in some way (share, like, comment or clicked the image). 

Here is where the value grows exponentially, below we are simply looking at one share out of the 2.2k times it was already shared.

John shared it to a page called:

This is what the post looks like when he does that: our branding shows up twice in the post and there is a link to send us a message (in fact we received dozens of messages already asking various questions about the business)

Then the post spreads organically from that shared post, see all the comments and participation below:

So every person above saw the post with our brand mentioned and because they commented I get the opportunity to go in to that comment and like it (see third column), they also get a notification on Facebook saying Standard Auto Wreckers liked your comment.


Remember, this is the value from one single share on a post that already broadcasted our brand to over 400k people and  2.2k of those have made a share like this (many to their friends and/or family).

August 28, 2021 update:

The post has continued to spread like crazy but it looks like it is starting to slow down, I expect this to have a final landing at around 750k reach!
